Chapter 10

The Green House

I looked away from the strange sun and saw the land around me. It stretched out flat in all directions, like an endless empty floor. I could not see any plants, animals, or buildings anywhere. I felt myself moving forward over this flat land, almost like I was floating. This journey continued for what seemed like hours. I wasn’t in a hurry, but I felt both curious and surprised by this place. My eyes kept searching the huge empty plain for anything different, but everything looked the same—empty, quiet, and lonely. 

After some time, I noticed a light red color close to the ground. When I looked more carefully, I realized it wasn’t really fog or smoke. It seemed to be part of the land itself, making everything look slightly unreal, as if I could put my hand through it. I began to feel bored seeing the same view for so long. But then, far in the distance, I spotted something different. At first, it looked like a small bump on the flat land. As I moved closer, I could see it wasn’t a small hill but a line of huge mountains. Their tops were so high they almost touched the red sky, making them hard to see clearly. 

When I finally reached the mountains, my path changed. Now I was moving along the bottom of these tall rock walls. Then I saw a large crack between two mountains. I moved through this crack slowly. On both sides of me were tall, straight walls of stone. When I looked up, I could see only a thin line of red light where the crack opened at the top. Inside this narrow path, everything was dark and very quiet. 

I kept moving forward until I saw red light ahead of me. This told me I was getting close to the other end of the mountain path. Soon, I came out of the crack and found myself looking at a big circle of mountains. But I hardly noticed the mountains or how beautiful they were. My eyes were fixed on a huge building made of green stone, standing many miles away in the middle of the circle. What shocked me most wasn’t just seeing a building in this empty world, but that it looked exactly like my house on Earth—except it was green and many times bigger.
