These Terms of Use govern access to and use of ngslenglish.com and the educational content, tools, downloads, and services provided by NGSL English, an educational website operated from Tokyo, Japan. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Educational purpose
NGSL English provides language-learning and educational resources. Vocabulary checks, band estimates, reading levels, exercises, and related guidance support learning but are not formal proficiency examinations, accredited qualifications, admissions decisions, or professional placement assessments.
Permitted use
You may access public pages for personal, non-commercial educational use. Downloadable or purchased resources may be used only under the license supplied with the resource and our Licensing Terms. Access to a resource does not transfer copyright or other intellectual-property ownership.
Prohibited use
- Copying, republishing, selling, sharing, or distributing substantial site content or paid resources without permission.
- Sharing account credentials, files, or download links beyond an applicable license.
- Using automated methods to scrape, extract, reproduce, or build datasets from the site except as expressly permitted by law or written agreement.
- Attempting to interfere with the site’s security, availability, accounts, or users.
- Using the site or its materials for unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or infringing purposes.
- Misrepresenting an informal NGSL result as an official certification or validated placement decision.
Accounts and communications
If accounts are introduced, users will be responsible for providing accurate information, protecting their credentials, and notifying us of suspected unauthorized access. If optional email updates are introduced, subscribers will be able to unsubscribe using the link in each marketing message.
Purchases
If paid products are introduced, the product description, price, license scope, delivery method, accepted payment methods, and any additional charges will be shown before purchase. Online payments are planned through Stripe Checkout and PayPal. Approved school, department, and institutional orders may be paid by invoice and bank transfer. You agree to provide accurate billing and payment information and pay the displayed or invoiced charges by the stated deadline. Refund eligibility is governed by the Refund Policy and any product-specific terms displayed at checkout or on an invoice. Product-specific written terms prevail over these general terms where they conflict.
Minors
Users who have not reached the age at which they can independently enter a binding purchase agreement in their location should make purchases only with the involvement and authorization of a parent or legal guardian.
Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, NGSL English owns or is licensed to use the site’s original text, design, exercises, readings, audio, compilations, branding, and downloadable resources. References to the New General Service List and third-party materials remain subject to their respective ownership, licenses, and attribution requirements. NGSL English does not claim ownership of third-party word lists, trademarks, or materials, and no third-party endorsement is implied.
External services and links
The site may link to or use third-party services. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, terms, or privacy practices. Personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Availability and changes
We may correct, update, reorganize, suspend, or discontinue site features and content. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that every free resource will remain available indefinitely. Commitments made for a paid product at the time of purchase will continue to apply according to the applicable product terms.

The site and its resources are provided on an “as available” basis. Although we aim to provide accurate, useful, and level-appropriate material, we do not guarantee that all content is error-free, suitable for every learner, or sufficient to achieve a particular result.
