NGSL English is an educational website operated from Tokyo, Japan. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use ngslenglish.com, how we use and protect it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
Information you provide. When you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, message, resource interests, and any other information you choose to include.
Technical and usage information. Our website, hosting systems, security tools, and analytics service may process information such as your IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages visited, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the date and time of visits.
Vocabulary checks and learning activities
Vocabulary checks and other interactive learning activities process your answers in order to calculate and display the requested result. NGSL English does not currently store individual answers or vocabulary results after the activity. Do not enter your name, email address, or other sensitive personal information into a learning activity unless the activity specifically requests it.
The NGSL band check is an informal learning diagnostic. It is not a formal proficiency, certification, or placement test.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website and its educational resources.

- To understand how visitors use the website and improve its content, accessibility, and performance.
- To process purchases and deliver paid resources if direct sales are introduced.

Google Analytics and cookies
NGSL English uses Google Analytics to understand website traffic and how visitors interact with the site. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies and may process technical and usage information, including device information, approximate location, pages viewed, and interactions with the website. We use this information in aggregated reports to improve the website.
Google processes this information under its own terms and privacy practices. You can learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy and in Google’s information about how it uses information from sites that use its services.
The site also uses essential cookies and similar technologies where necessary for administration, security, preferences, and site functionality. You can restrict or delete cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may affect some features. Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential analytics technologies, consent controls should be provided before those technologies are enabled.
Payments
If NGSL English introduces paid products, online payments are planned to be processed through Stripe Checkout or PayPal. Payment-card, bank-account, and PayPal account credentials entered in those services will be processed directly by the selected provider and will not be stored by NGSL English. Stripe processes information under the Stripe Privacy Policy, and PayPal processes information under the PayPal Privacy Statement.
For approved school, department, and institutional orders, NGSL English may also issue an invoice and accept payment by bank transfer. Bank-transfer instructions will be provided privately on the applicable invoice and will not be published on the website.
NGSL English may receive and retain transaction information such as the purchaser’s or institution’s name, contact details, billing details, product or license purchased, amount, payment method, transaction or invoice identifier, and payment status. We use this information for order review, product delivery, licensing, customer support, accounting, fraud prevention, refunds, and legal compliance.
Service providers and data sharing
We use service providers for functions such as website hosting, security, analytics, payment processing, file delivery, and technical support. These providers may process information only as necessary to perform their services, comply with law, or protect their rights. Our current analytics provider is Google. Stripe and PayPal are the planned online payment providers. Bank-transfer payments for approved institutional orders will be handled through the applicable financial institutions.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law, when reasonably necessary to protect users, the website, or legal rights, or in connection with a legitimate transfer of the website or its operations.
Legal grounds for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process personal information as necessary to provide requested services or perform a contract, with your consent, to comply with legal obligations, or for legitimate interests such as operating, securing, and improving the website, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Data retention
- Contact inquiries: normally retained for up to 24 months after the inquiry is resolved, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary.
- Vocabulary answers and results: not currently stored by NGSL English after the activity.
- Analytics information: retained according to the retention settings configured in Google Analytics and periodically reviewed.
- Transaction and accounting information: retained for the period needed to provide support and satisfy applicable accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and legal requirements.
Information may be deleted or anonymized earlier when it is no longer reasonably necessary.
External links and embedded content
The website may contain links to or embedded content from other websites and educational services. Those providers may collect data or monitor interactions according to their own privacy policies. NGSL English is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to certain processing or withdraw consent. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions.
To make a privacy request, use our Contact page. Please describe the request clearly. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also have the right to submit a complaint to the privacy or data-protection authority where you live.
Children’s privacy
NGSL English provides educational material for a broad audience, including content that may be used by students, but the website is not intended for children under 13 to register, contact us, or make purchases independently. Children should use the site with the involvement of a parent, guardian, school, or teacher.
Vocabulary results are not currently stored by NGSL English. Children should not submit names, email addresses, payment information, or other personal information without appropriate adult involvement. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information may contact us to request its deletion.
International processing
NGSL English is operated from Japan and may be accessed internationally. Google, Stripe, PayPal, financial institutions, hosting providers, and other service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. We use service providers and safeguards appropriate to the information and as required by applicable law.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website, its services, providers, or legal obligations change. The revised date will be shown at the top of this page.
