NGSL English is committed to making its language-learning website and educational resources usable by as many people as reasonably possible, including people with disabilities.
Our accessibility goal
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. This is an ongoing goal and not a claim that every current page, activity, or downloadable file fully conforms.
Measures we take
- Use clear headings, readable language, and consistent page structures.
- Work to support keyboard navigation and visible keyboard focus.
- Provide text alternatives for meaningful images and make reasonable efforts to provide captions or transcripts for new audio and video.
- Consider color contrast, text resizing, zoom, mobile use, and screen-reader compatibility during updates.
- Review downloadable learning materials for accessible reading order and legibility.
- Avoid relying only on color to communicate learning levels or results.
- Consider accessibility when selecting or configuring third-party tools.
Known limitations
Some older pages, experimental learning activities, embedded third-party features, and downloadable documents may not yet meet our accessibility goal. Some graded readings may also lack audio, transcripts, structured exercises, or fully consistent navigation. We are reviewing these materials progressively, prioritizing core navigation, vocabulary checks, reader catalogs, purchasing paths, and newly published resources.
Third-party content
Some functions may depend on third-party platforms or embedded content that we do not fully control. We consider accessibility when selecting these services and will make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative when a third-party feature creates a significant barrier.
Requesting an accessible format
If you need an NGSL English resource in a different format, please contact us and identify the page or product, the format you need, and the difficulty encountered. We will make a reasonable effort to provide an alternative without an additional charge or explain what options are available.
Feedback
Accessibility feedback helps us improve. Please use our Contact page and include the affected page address, a description of the problem, the device or assistive technology used if relevant, and your preferred way to receive a response. We aim to respond promptly.
Assessment and review
This statement is based on an internal review of the site. Reviews include, where practical, keyboard navigation, focus visibility, color contrast, form labels, text resizing and zoom, mobile layout, screen-reader compatibility, and downloadable document structure. We will update this statement as significant accessibility work is completed or new services are introduced.
